Biographies...

All of the members of the firm are graduates of Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.

Nancy HungerfordNANCY HUNGERFORD, founding member of the firm in 1981, previously worked as a small business owner, newspaper editor, high school and college teacher, and human resources director for the North Clackamas School District. Nancy regularly serves as bargaining table spokesperson for 10-12 collective bargaining agreements a year. She also represents clients in labor arbitrations, ERB and FDAB cases, and IDEA/504 due process cases. Nancy received her B.A. in journalism and English from the University of Nebraska and a M.A. in English literature from the University of Oregon.

Andrea HungerfordANDREA HUNGERFORD joined the firm in 1995, and has since become one of Oregon’s experts on school district compliance with IDEA and Section 504. Andrea also advises all of our clients on a variety of personnel-related matters, with an emphasis on employee performance and conduct issues. Andrea is the editor of the Oregon Special Education Law Update and regularly inservices staff around the state in special education and personnel issues. Andrea received her B.A. in political science from Stanford University.

Brian HungerfordBRIAN HUNGERFORD joined the firm in 1998 after graduation with a B.S. in economics from Lewis & Clark College. Since joining the firm, he has represented clients as spokesperson in bargaining more than 100 collective bargaining agreements. Brian routinely advises clients on contract negotiation and implementation, and represents them before the Employment Relations Board and in FDAB and arbitration hearings as well as state and federal court regarding a variety of personnel and labor-relations issues.

Rich HungerfordRICHARD COHN-LEE joined the firm in 1999 after clerking for Lane County Circuit Court Judge David Brewer and after three years at Stoel Rives in the litigation department. Rich represents clients in a variety of administrative hearings and state and federal court trials and appeals. Rich also advises school districts on special education law and participates regularly in IEP meetings and mediation sessions. Rich received a B.S. in Chemistry from Princeton University.

Jennifer HungerfordJENNIFER HUNGERFORD joined the firm in 2002 after four years in the Portland employment law firm of Busse & Hunt, where she represented primarily plaintiffs in litigation in state and federal court. Since joining the firm, Jennifer has defended our clients in litigation that varies from a state court challenge of an expulsion decision, to a state court public records appeal, to federal court whistle-blower and discrimination cases, to FDAB and state appellate court employee dismissal cases. Jennifer also advises clients regarding personnel issues, including FMLA/OFLA and ADA law. She received her B.A. in American Studies and Sociology from Skidmore College.
